Ludiya Village is a small village of the Harijan tribe. "Harijan" is a name given by Gandhi that means "People of God".
Though the caste system is changing now in India, people of the Harijan are still considered of very low caste: Untouchables. However, just 20 years ago, and probably for hundreds or thousands of years proceeding that, if someone of a higher caste by mistake touched them, or even brushed up against them, they were required to take a shower or bath.

NOTE:I EVENTUALLY BOUGHT THE EARRINGS W/BALLS FOR 150 RS. THUS, THE PRICES GIVEN HERE, FOR ALL OF THESE ITEMS, ARE THE INITIAL PRICES THAT I WAS GIVEN AND WROTE DOWN, AND ARE NOT AT ALL FINAL. I AM JUST WRITING DOWN THE PRICE THAT I WAS FIRST GIVEN BY THE LADY WHO WAS PRESENTING THE GOODS (IN HER LANGUAGE OF KUTCHI), VIA MY TRANSLATOR/GUIDE.
IT IS ALSO QUITE POSSIBLE THAT MY GUIDE WAS GETTING A HEFTY COMMISSION FROM WHATEVER I BOUGHT. THUS, THE PRICES GIVEN FOR THE PRODUCTS FROM LUDIYA VILLAGE ARE PROBABLY NOT AT ALL ACCURATE.
IF THIS IS TOO CONFUSING, AND IT WOULD BE EASIER FOR ME TO NOT GIVE ANY PRICES AT ALL, OR EVEN NOT SHOW THESE PHOTOS AT ALL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ANY FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED. Blanket 1500 Rs. / $33.
